1. Installation/mounting of the tail boxes
Important
security warning!
Though we sell our boxes to private persons also,
the installation must be accomplished by a qualified
bicycle mecanic. We recommend to cover areas of contact between seat
and box with double-sided adhesive tape or an old tube etc. This
prevents screeching noises and vibrations later on and simplifies the installation.
Bring together the box with the seat in the final position
and fasten it there provisionally e.g. with adhesive tape or in that a
helper presses the box against the (assembled) seat. Subsequently drill 6
holes with 6mm diameter through the seat in the interior of the box.
The holes should be distributed equally at the outer rim of the
seats upper part. The hole should be approx. 15 mm or more from the outer
edge of the seat to the center of the seat, however, do not affect the structural bulges of the seat. See schematic drawing below.
The holes stretch through the seat in the boxes interior. Fasten
seat and box with M6 screws. Use screws with a large head and/or the washers M 10 !
Use below the nut in the interior of the box the large washers 6/25, so that the glassfibre is
not destroyed. Tighten the screws to such extent, that the box can not vibrate: if the box
can vibrate the screws will act like a saw and destroy the box as well as the seat!
After fixing the box it may be that it is impossible to alter the position of the seat or that there is
no more acces to the brakes for maintainance. Therefore, you might consider to use wing nuts in the box so that it
can be quickly removed.
Because the box is fixed to the seat only, the maximum load is limited to 15 Kg.
Place a corresponding sticker after the installation in a well
visibly place. If you want to carry more weight, support the box with somme additional steel or
aluminium stripes in the mudguards region.
Dont hesitate to contact us if you wish further explanations and informations.
You receive with the box:
Stainless steel – screw: 4 M 6 x 20mm and 4 St. M6 x 30mm
Stainless steel – washers: 8 M 10 at the seat subject to
Stainless steel 8 washers 6/25: 8
Stainless steel – nuts: 8 St. M 6 selfsecuring
The center of the bore should be approx. 15 mm or more from
the outer edge of the seat.
do not drill in the structural bulges of the seat .
Amount of the bores:
At the boxes „Sport“ or „Tour“ small“: 4 bores resp. screws
At the boxes „Sport“ or „Tour“ large“: 6 or 8 bores resp. screws
Sitzschale genauso (Bild Umbau Baron 1).
If the device caused by
collision has received a crack or a tear going through the material in the back area, i.e.
the tear is to be seen inside and outside.
At this type of damage the carrying structure
is destroyed.
The box then generally will by a repair not recover the original strength.
the by the bikers always demanded with approx. 3 kg at a volume of approx. 70 – 80 l by
a ultralightweight construction, which similarly like an eggshell
can endure only the maximum stress, if the hollow body structure is intact.
Sie the trunk through bringing up a @@Laminatschicht inside optically again to some extent, but we
take over no guarantee more; the loading capacity of the box with pieces of
luggage is still minimal only.
