Mein Heckkoffer ist durch einen Sturz beschädigt. Außen hat er einen Riss und die Farbe ist dort abgeplatzt. Was kann ich tun?

My box is damaged. Outside is a crack, inside is a split and the glassfibre comes out.

Sie reparieren am besten mit einer Reparaturpackung Polyesterharz und ggf. Glasgewebe aus dem Baumarkt, schauen Sie auch mal im Bootsbedarf nach.
Außen können Sie den Schaden möglichst gering halten, indem Sie nur die Bruckstelle mit dem abgeplatzten Lack eng abkleben und dort das Harz nur so dick auftragen, daß es möglichst eine Oberfläche mit dem umgebenden "gesunden" Material bildet.
Wenn die Bruchstelle bis ins Innere durchgeht, innen die Farbschicht abschleifen bis auf die Glasfaser, Harz auftragen, Glasfasermatte auflegen, mit Harz einpinseln, fertig.

Außen behandeln Sie die Oberfläche zunächst mit einer  starken Polierpaste und bearbeiten damit alle verfärbten und verkratzten Stellen. I.d.R. sieht dann alles schon viel besser aus. Die restlichen Stellen behandeln Sie mit feinem Schmirgelpapier,
fangen Sie mit 200 Papier vorsichtig an und gehen Sie dann bis auf 800 er Papier oder 1200 er hoch.
Bevor Sie das ganz feine  Papier benutzen behandeln Sie die mit Harz aufgefüllten Stellen mit entsprechendem Lack  und schleifen diese Stelle nach dem Trocknen in einem Aufwasch mit der Umgebung dem feinen Papier.
I.d. R. sieht man danach von der Bruchstelle nicht mehr viel.

buy a repair kit of polyester resin and glass fabric from the hardware store, take a look at the department for car accessories or boat needs.

The following work will take some time and patience:
1. you start on the outside.  You can minimize the damage by covering the bumps with the chipped paint tightly applying some the resin thinly only (you can dilute it a bit with nitro thinner or another sovent) so that it forms as much of an even surface as possible with the surrounding "healthy" material.
2. If the break goes through to the inside, sand the inside of the paint layer down to the glass fiber of grade 60 or 80, apply resin with a brush, lay on the precut fiberglass mat, brush thoroughly, apply some additional resin in the dry areas. If you feel the need, apply a second smaller layer of glass mat. Done after hardening of the glue.

3. On the outside again, first treat the surface with a strong polishing paste and work on all discolored and scratched areas. Usually everything looks much better then. The damaged and scratched areas only are sanded with fine sandpaper, start with 200 paper carefully, then go up to 800 or 1200 paper.
Before using the very fine paper, treat the areas filled with resin with appropriate varnish and, after drying, sand the whole repaired area with the fine paper.
Usually you will astonished to see  not much of the break anymore.
